Posperity doctrines

I have always believed that the reaction against the "so called" prosperity doctrines was a case of throwing the baby out with the bath water. There is no questionthat God has stated in the Bible the principle of giving to God and He will give back to you. What are your thoughts on the validity of the prosperity doctrine?
